As a widow, mother, and grandmother, Lisa understands the importance of economic security and opportunity for all. Her platform focuses on creating good-paying jobs, protecting seniors, and safeguarding essential freedoms, including reproductive rights and voting protections.
Lisa’s unwavering dedication to Delaware began in her hometown of Wilmington, where she worked her first job at McDonald’s on Market Street. Her early commitment to hard work shaped her future in public service, starting with an unexpected opportunity to intern for then-Congressman Tom Carper. From there, Lisa’s career skyrocketed, breaking barriers as Delaware’s Secretary of Labor, Deputy Secretary of Health and Social Services, and State Personnel Director. In each role, she served Delawareans through helping with Social Security benefits, housing issues, and much more.
In 2016, Lisa made history as Delaware’s first woman and person of color elected to Congress. She has consistently delivered on critical issues, including lowering healthcare costs for seniors, creating good-paying jobs, and improving the state’s infrastructure. Now, Lisa is running for the U.S. Senate, where she will continue her unwavering fight for Delaware families, with a particular focus on defending reproductive rights, ensuring every vote is counted, and building a stronger economy for all.
