Wow: Vermont Senate Passes Single-Payer Health Care

Gov. Peter Shumlin (D) is intent on making health care a right—not a privilege. And he’s not alone.

Last Tuesday, the Vermont Senate approved single-payer health care. Much like Medicare for seniors, this single-payer system will actually provide health insurance to every single Vermont state resident. Vermont could become the very first state in the nation to approve this.

Now, just 49 states to go.
