Statement from Ilya Sheyman, executive director of MoveOn.org Political Action, in response to news that Donald Trump will suggest implementing “stop and frisk” nationwide in a TV appearance airing tonight:

“Stop and frisk is not only a racist policy, it is a failed policy. While it is no surprise that a candidate who rose to political power by peddling a racist lie that the President wasn’t born in the United States and filled his campaign with racist, bigoted, and xenophobic rhetoric and policies would advocate for ‘stop and frisk,’ such a stance is no less shameful or wrong.

“Recently, Donald Trump has taken to telling his mostly white audiences that things could not get worse for black Americans. With today’s announcement, he has proven that under his presidency, it would.”
