Hillary Clinton Calls Al Jazeera 'Real News,' Slams U.S. Cable News

Say it, sister!nnI discovered their YouTube channel some years ago; and have been glued to AJE online for the last several weeks. Certainly, I am not alone – their website traffic has exploded from what I understand. The people recognize quality. AJE is meeting a demand. This is capitalism at work, and this is despite the widespread corruption that would prevent it from functioning (more naturally, as a system). Al Jazeera rises to the top.nnThanks for posting this!

It’s about time! Americans have realised there are real news channels out their in the wider world. As a Brit I, like most of the world have trusted in the BBC (and still do) but for coverage of this widespread Revolution and other matters Mid East and African, Al Jazeera seems to have surpassed them. In the US we’ve had access to BBCNews24 for a number of years and most Al Jazeera anchors and reporters are either; educated in the UK, born in the UK or ex BBC. So to Americans that have a real interest in the [relatively unbiased] views of news outlets outside the USA, just stop watching Fox et al and find some quality news programs, they’ve always been here (including home grown ones, e.g Free Speach TV) but not enough people have been bothered to look. But whatever… I’m glad a lot of people in the US are now seeing the light!

I couldn’t agree more with you. The masses in this country are fed garbage so their heads are full of garbage when they go to the voting booth. An ignorant electorate is much easier to manipulate.

Go Hillary!! I was shocked & delighted to hear Hillary’s comment about Al Jazeera. I didn’t expect any of our political leaders or representatives to admit how awful America’s current news media has become. Several other great news programs you can watch to get thenreal truth are Democracy Now, Grit TV & Thom Hartmann, all of these can be found on Free Speech TV. It’s too bad all cable & satellite companies don’t offer this public broadcasting channel – you can however watch Democracy Now on Link TV, also a public broadcasting channel offered by a few more providers, but it doesn’t offer some of the other news programs I mentioned. The real problem here is allowing corporations to buy up and control all our media outlets. Our political representatives should stop this power grab of the peoples right to information. We no longer get good unbiased investigational reporting. Everything is censored by the corporate owners so we only hear & see what they want us to know – and the less we know the better as far as they are concerned. And if they can manipulate our views to their way of thinking, the better for them, i.e. Fox news denial of “climate change” or demanding their newscasters call the “public option” on the health care plan the “government option” trying to manipulate their audience and they do a great job of this too. I am amazed by the misinformation allowed to be broadcast as news to the American people. In the past the news media brought out the truth, informing & educating the American public so they were capable of making informed decisions. Our government needs to reinstitute regulations on these huge corporations but it looks like that’s not going to happen – UNLESS “we the people” rise up & demand it. WHEN are we Americans going to start our own NATIONWIDE protest and take back our RIGHT to be in control of our government & its policies??? I know there are many groups protesting in our country about many different issues, but of course our news media doesn’t give them much if any coverage. As a result,nwe don’t really see or know how many other Americans agree with our concerns. That’s a good thing for those who would like only their views to be known. However, a “democratic & free society” should be presented with both sides, with all the information, pros & cons so they can make a more informed decision. We need to stand up as a nation against the control these corporations & their lobbyists have over our politicians. I hear every day how corrupt our government even our supreme court justices are but all most of us do is complain & shake our heads. We really need a “mass movement of the American people” a nationwide protest to let our politicians know we are tired of them not listening to us – the MAJORITY. If we stand together our leaders will have no other choice but to do the “will of the people” instead of the will of those who want to gain control of all aspects of our society. I hope to see a movement in this direction soon because the longer we wait, the harder it will become. nn

Thats a basic problem, you judge everything in $’s. So that means payed for news not quality news. I believe if you had Fox news and BBC or Al Jazeera on the same channel with equal air time, within a year Fox news viewers would decline. It’s all about availability and I truly believe, even in America, given real choice, the majority want an unbiased world view, not a Glen Beck et al view of the world.

What IS exceptional about America is that we have the highest sex crime rate in the world, the highest gun crime rate in the world, the highest prison population in the world. Another exceptinal thing about America is the state of fear and paranoia [people like] you live in. You think everyone wants what you have. Wrong, look at WHERE your illigal immigrants come from… anywhere is better than those places. As for American Freedom; how can anyone be really free if getting ill can be financially ruinous. But as long as you get your celebratized news from the mainstream media in this country you’ll always have a distorted view of the world, and even your own counrty.
